Flotsam and Jetsam is a sculptural installation that examines the afterlives of materials that have been lost, discarded, or set adrift. Borrowing its title from maritime terms for accidental wreckage and intentionally cast-off debris, the work occupies the space between loss and disposal. Constructed from layers of translucent plastic and dense black enamel, the suspended and wall-mounted forms evoke both bodily remnants and environmental detritus. Plastic functions as both medium and subject, both durable and disposable, while poured black stains suggest oil, sediment, and ongoing transformation. Together, these forms create a field of suspended evidence, reflecting on how materials circulate, persist, and accumulate within contemporary landscapes, where the distinction between bodies and debris increasingly begins to dissolve.
