artwork > The Great Decay

The Great Decay has become a daily ritual in my life and art practice. My images are snapshots capturing the essence of my evolving surroundings within the Louisiana landscape and beyond. Rooted in the belief that these snapshots possess a timeless quality, echoing hauntology, they inform the backdrop of my studio practice. I view photography as a sketching process, my images construct a visual vocabulary, documenting experiences and inspiring my studio practice's recreation and repositioning of tangible creations. Through the translation from image to paint sketch, each sketch allows room for expression, improvisation, and freedom beyond the stillness of a photo, both in terms of physical spaces and the ever-evolving terrain of my art practice. My artwork explores human interactions with the Earth, with photography serving as both motivator and gateway to larger photography projects (Bleeding Pleading Cursing) and sculpture projects (Seasick) embodying continuous exploration and a reflection on the transient nature of existence within a changing environment.
