Family Business
Family Business utilizes synthetic plywood, made from bulk oil, gas and diesel fuel sales receipts on paper from George W Stokes Oil, which serviced southeast Louisiana from 1959-2012. The receipts have been manufactured into plywood through layers of rigorous gluing and rolling, mimicking the growth rings of a tree, constructing paper logs, and then milled into workable paper lumber. The paper lumber is assembled into small pallets, completing the cycle of transformation from one form of receipt to another artifact of transaction.
